Black Friday Thoughts From A Child

"Black Friday is hell that has been thrust upon us by a communist who does not want people to live"!!  This is a quote from an eleven year old.  She seems to have better insight on things than a lot of adults I know.

Geronimo

"I cannot think that we are useless or God would not have created us.  There is one God looking down on us all.  We are all the children of one God.  The sun, the darkness, the winds are all listening to what we have to say."

Halloween 2012

I love Halloween, it's when all the little ghouls and zombies can come out to play without anyone judging them for who they really are.  It truly is one day out of the year that I can let my hair down and let the inner wickedness come out.  Whether you are a good witch or a bad witch I hope you all have a wonderful and happy bewitching Halloween!  I will;)

Forcast!

October 4th, 2012:  Getting the kids out the door to catch the school bus, I tell them that it is going to be alot cooler today than it has been the last few days.  Songbird looks at me and asks, is it going to rain?  I answer by saying that the weather report said we may get some sprinkles here and there.  Songbird then asks me, what time?  Ya, I laughed!!

Where's the dog lady with the big bag when we need her?

We were in town today visiting the outlaws, when I noticed the neighbors little dog a (Papillon) was tied up outside.  No one was home and I thought it was strange to have left such a little dog outside, tied to a fence.  As we sat  at the picnic table visiting, I couldn't stop watching this poor little puppy.  He was rapped up around this weird structure they are building and he couldn't get to his water dish.  Not only that it was a little chilly out today and he was trying to figure out how to get over to the sunny side of this structure to warm up.  I couldn't take it anymore, if only the dog lady with the big bag wouldn't have moved to Hawaii.  But, she did so it was up to me!!  Under the circumstances I could only give some assistance to the poor puppy.  I took him some fresh water and untangled his rope.  He's so little, I felt really bad for him.  But, I can't get anymore involved than that.  He really needs the dog lady with the big bag!!!

Pro Bowlers? Maybe Some Day!!

I just want to say that bowling is also a sport, for those of you who may think otherwise.  I'm very proud of my two youngest children for just jumping right in there and trying something different.  It's not the same old, same old fall sport most kids would choose, but I think it's great!!

Hicky Mouth

As I was going about my business today, cleaning out closets and organizing some things.  I noticed, every time Jar walked by me it looked like he had food or dirt under his bottom lip and chin.  I would wet a wash cloth down and wipe his face and go onto my next chore, then turn around and look at him and he still had that crap on his face.  I wiped his face about 5 times, until I heard SongBird say, what is on your face, you look like you have a beard?  I then took him into the bathroom where I could see under some decent light.  Around his whole mouth he had a strange looking ring that wrapped perfectly around his lips.  I then in my mad voice said, have you been sucking a glass to your mouth really tight?  He said no, but I did suction the bottom of this plastic toy container to my mouth, you know the ones that come out of those quarter machines that have little trinket toys in them.  Ya, how many times have I said don't suck a glass tight up around your mouth and don't suck on your arms, you are giving yourself a hicky!!!   That was the laugh for today!!  My son has a hicky mouth:)

One of my strange obsessions

We picked up our Island Girl and her husband from the airport last week.  They are home for a visit and it is all very exciting for all of us, because we've missed her so much.  On our way home from the airport we stopped for a bite to eat at a Mc.Donalds.  Island Girl and I went to use the restroom.  While in there we just were making some small talk.  She was saying how she felt kinda funny after such a long flight and kinda tired.  As I came out of the stall she is washing her hands and she looks up into the mirror at me and says, did you get a new purse?  We began to laugh, because anyone who knows me knows how much I like purses and for her to just randomly notice my new bag was really funny.  A few minutes later she then said, you got new shoes too!!  Maybe it was just a funny mother, daughter moment, but she knows me so well.  That makes me realize even more how much I miss her!!  Make every day count!!!  P.S. The purse isn't brand new I've had it for several months.

Songbird or Daredevil?

A couple weeks back Songbird, Jar and I decided to do something different than the usual bike ride or walk.  I thought it would be fun for me to roller blade and for them to ride their scooters.  I figured we would be about even speed wise.  Before we left the kids said Mom you should wear a helmet.  But I do not have one so I said don't worry we're not going real far I'll be fine.  Everything was going fine and we were on our way back in the home stretch and I look over at Songbird as she is falling to the ground, almost in slow motion.  Knee scraped, big toe gashed and side of  foot was cut.  The sight of blood is what put her into a slight panic.  We still had to make it home and the more she walked the more she bled.  All over her flip flop that is what seem to bother her the most.  You know how girls are about their shoes!  Got home, cleaned her up and everything seem to heal up nicely.  Then this week Songbird has been really active, doing exercises on the exercise ball, running, and riding her bike.  Until this morning, she was out for her regular ride just up around the curve when out of no where the bike hit some loose gravel, the back tire whipped out from underneath of her and she went down.  She bravely got up walked home, pushing her bike beside her, NO TEARS, not even one.  Blood running down the front of her left leg, from a big scrape and a bloody left palm.  She's come a long way, she didn't even freak out during the clean up!!!  We're so proud!!  I do have one helpful hint for those big scrapes that may require a large bandage, but you may not have one on hand.  Panty liner, I just cut one in half and taped it down.  Works great, sounds weird, but works great!!!

Fury babies and cookies!

When we go to Menards shopping it is always an adventure.  In the past we have had one child crush another child's finger with a heavy piece of  metal from the big carts used to carry out larger items like lumber, plumbing etc..  We have also had a child get his hand stuck under the conveyer belt at one of the checkouts.  That one really wasn't his fault.  This time, I think had to be the most interesting.  We picked up some of those fudge striped cookies to use when making s'mores.  Really good they work as the chocolate and the graham cracker.  Anyway,  I'm going about my business bagging our purchases while my hubby is paying.  Songbird is helping me and Jar has only one thing on his mind.  He then blurts out, out of no where.  Where did you put the Kittens?????   He looked at me I looked at him, hubby say's what did he say?  The check girl was puzzled..  Then I said, do you mean the cookies?  We all started laughing, I couldn't stop.  I don't know where he came up with that, but his explanation was that his tongue got all twisted up.  I guess that' just a slip of the tongue:)

Fun 4th of July weekend.

We had a fun weekend in Wisconsin.  There were 17 adults, 5 kids, and 5 dogs.  It was some kinda crazy fun.  We had our own Olympic games with each family being their own country.  We made a family flag that represented our own families interests, like a motox bike, musical notes, the sunshine and a stick chick in a bikini.  Ha,ha, ya the stick chick was me sunbathing .  We competed in some games against the other families.  We came in last place when we were all done, but we got some cool prizes.  The kids had fun swimming and fishing.  Jar caught a pretty good size perch, you know they can be small but this was nice size.  He wouldn't kiss the fish, so I did it and then he released it.  Songbird fished down the shore a ways with Chris and had bites 2 different times that really bent the rod but then got away with the bait and all.  Zach and Chris were great with getting them all set up to fish the kids had a great time.  Jar also went on the tube with Zoey and Sam she's a friend of  Zach and Jacque.  Songbird still not ready for that, but the stick chick and her hubby went together on the tube.  Stick chick's brother was driving the boat and tried his hardest to dump us out, but he did not succeed.  Stick chick was screaming a lot and hubby just laughed at her, they all were laughing at her.  Later, out on the pontoon Deb, Jar, Zoey climbed down the ladder and swam around in 27 feet of water.  Songbird went down the ladder and climbed back up, she tried.  Zoey still wanted to jump off the pontoon so Deb, Zoey and stick chick jumped in. Oh, yes she did, stick chick jumped off into 27 feet of water, her children were in complete shock.  Fireworks were fun, the dogs were funny to watch.  Riley got so scared she ran over and jumped up on hubbies lap, Manerd just kept barking and trying to bite at them.  Nitro, had a good weekend laying on the pontoon, watching the fireworks these things didn't scare him, he was more scared of all the adults trying to pet him.  He loved the two littlest kids and they loved him because he was the smallest dog there.  So they kept calling him the puppy.  Last event was tie dye shirts and lots of candy for the kids to bring home.  It was a great time.  Looking forward to next year.

Brave

Song Bird and I went to see the movie Brave over the weekend.  Very much a mother, daughter flick.  Song Bird has been waiting for this movie to come out.  Now she really wants to get into shooting archery.  I know kinda surprising, but she did it in phy.ed and really liked it and after seeing this movie she's really interested.  I on the other hand spent a large portion of the movie choking back the tears.  I had to keep telling myself it's only a cartoon.  But, in some ways the story line felt very close to home.  All in all a good movie!

Butterfly!

Jar found a caterpillar several weeks ago.  We've been watching it get all fattened up to prepare for the making of  the cocoon.  Nine days ago it made it's cocoon, amazing how this little creature goes through this process.  We watched and we waited for the cocoon to go from this interesting green color with a type of  gold stitching around the top, to the cocoon becoming almost  transparent so that you can actually see the monarch butterfly inside the cocoon.  When this happens you know that it's time.  The butterfly starts to quiver inside the cocoon until it shakes itself free.  AMAZING!!!  The butterfly then needs some time to kinda wake up.  Once awake, Jar then decides to let the butterfly go free.  He has gone through this process several times before, but this time the butterfly gracefully fell down to the patio, instead of taking off into flight right away.  Jar ran down to find her but thankfully she was o.k. and flew off .  When Jar returned to the house he was crying, very, very, sad little boy..  Then Dad told Jar that he did a great job raising the butterfly and it was time for her to go out on her own,  just like you do when you have kids.  Just like our Island Girl, she is our Island Butterfly!!  Sometimes as a parent we're not ready to let our butterflies go, but the butterflies want to spread their wings and fly!!   Jar stopped crying after this conversation, but this conversation got Dad all choked up;)  Until next time....

To many cars?

We were out and about this past Saturday.  We were invited to our friends home to celebrate their little boys 2nd birthday!!!  We decided to pick up his gift on the way to the party.  Sooo we headed to Target, parked the car and made a bee line to the toy department.  My hubby found this really cool, battery operated 4x4 Dodge Ram truck.  Cool, just push a button and it goes..  Then we pay and we are out the door heading to the parking lot.  Once in the parking lot I realize I don't remember which car we drove.  Then the kids laugh at me and tell me we brought my Island Girls car.  O.K. I'm thinking it's coming back to me, now I know where we parked.  In that same moment my hubby says it's over here.  When I look up to see where he is going, I say to him it's the right color but the wrong model of car!!!! HA,HA Don't worry we did find the car shortly after that.  Then the discussion in the car quickly turned to selling some of our vehicles..  We will have to wait and see?

To busy to blog!

My hubby has been on vacation this week...  So, I've been kinda busy with him doing lawn maintenance, buying flowers for my rock garden and working on the studio.  I know for some this may sound dull, but it has been nice to just have some alone time together before the kids are out of school for the summer.  I'm sure there will be plenty to talk about when the kids are home this summer... Later's baby;)

Shopping with Lubner.

I took Lubner to the mall today just to look around real quick.  As usual she wanted to go to Just Ice;)  She is at the age now where she likes to try stuff on.  It is really cute!  I didn't think she would get into the clothes shopping thing to much, but I think I may have been wrong.  She found this really cute skirt and tank top and it was on clearance.  That is my favorite "C" word!

Feels like summer!

The weather today is just the way I like it!  Sunny, hot and sticky!!  I went out on the back deck today and sat on my new lounge chair, it was very nice!  Except for some reason the cat and dog went into their distressed mode.  Pacing back and forth by the sliding glass door.  Their weird...  The dog would wine at me then the cat would sniff his ears and his mouth, like that was her way of comforting him. The dog finally gave up and went to his kennel but then the cat started standing on her hind legs with her front paws on the screen and she started her meowing and chirping at me.  She has this strange look on her face as if something really bad is about to happen.  Their like people in a lot of ways it's kinda creepy.  Other than my wacked out pets it has been a pretty nice day.  I hope your day was also a pleasant one.

Crabby today!

Yes, I'm crabby today!  It is a gloomy day with no sunshine but it is kinda muggy and as usual the wind is blowing a hundred miles an hour.  I am doing my menial daily tasks, which to most I'm sure is not very difficult.  You know, like folding clothes, cleaning house, yard maintenance, pet grooming, preparing the children's backpacks for school, homework helper, bookkeeper, the list is endless.  Oh, and how could I forget child rearing.  Did I mention these children I speak of  also need me to feed them.  I realize to some that this may seem like the easiest job in the world.  But, did they give birth three times without any medication?  Sorry, I just had to vent.  I,ll have some wine later and read some of my book and I'm sure I'll feel better this evening;)

Hawk

I saw something out of the corner of my eye today while I was Swiffering the kitchen floor!  It was some kinda big fricken animal, but I couldn't tell if it was standing on the ground or on the very tip, top of this smaller pine tree.  Then, I put my glasses on and realized it was a Hawk, a big fricken Hawk, perched on this small pine tree and because of it's weight and the landscape behind it, it actually looked like it was standing on the ground.  From the distance between our house and it's location it looked like the size of a large dog.  Huge, bird!!   DANGER, DANGER keep all small pets and children in the house because that Hawk was on the hunt!!  I'm kinda scared to go outside myself.  Cause I'm scared of hights and I'm afraid to fly!!!  Wish me luck, bye....

Mother's Day!

We went out for breakfast this year.  It was nice, the kids tried real hard not to bicker with each other, which for them can sometimes be difficult.  Then we came home mowed the lawn and I got to relax in the sun on my new gravity lounge chair!!  I've been wanting one of these for several years.  I guess good things do come, to those who wait..  All, in all it was a pretty nice day.

Field Day!

The kids had their annual field day at school today.  I watch them do the obstacle course, ball throw, three legged race, 50 yard dash, long run and the finale every year the tug of war.  I even participated.  After the second graders finished the 50 yard dash, they had all of the adults that were watching run it.  All women, teachers and me, the only mom that ran.  Oh, ya I rock!!!   It was fun, a great day!

The Woozie!

My beautiful daughter from the islands, sent me a birthday/mother's day gift.  I love it!!  The cd is one of my favorite female artists and THE WOOZIE is, basically a can cooler for a wine glass!  It's all tiger designed and I look real hot when I'm drinking my White Zin.  One of the other benefits of the Woozie is my hubby can't tell how much wine I actually have in my glass!  Ha, Ha.....   Thank you, for the great gift!  I love you island girl!!!!!!!!

The Trilogy

I DID IT!!!!!!  I finished three novels in a week.  I,m so hooked on these books that I am going to read them all over again.  I know it sounds strange, but I am strangely obsessed with this whole story.  Some of the personal events strangely mirror people that I know and have a close relationship with.  That's all I can say about this now.    Happy to give more information some time;)  Bye, for now....

Earth worm!

Jar found himself an earth worm the other day while playing with the neighbors.  It was big, and he was very happy about his earth worm!  He kept it in a container with some wet dirt.  Friday, before school he thought it might be a good idea to rinse the earth worm off with clean water.  I stopped him, and explained that it's a damn worm, it likes being dirty.  Jar then agreed and put the earth worm back in the dirt.  Today, while I was busy down stairs, Jar decided today would be the day to ignore what I said yesterday!  As I'm packing up some books, I here a small child crying in the hallway.  I walk out of the office into the hallway and I ask the normal question.  What happend?  Jar looks up at me sobbing, and says, I was rinsing my earth worm off and he went down the drain...  Being the sympathetic mom that I am, I started laughing!!!  Seriously, who wouldn't?

Is this April?

What's up with the weather?  It feels like winter here.  This sucks,  it is freezing here.  My birthday is in a few days and if it snows I am going to be pissed.  Not funny, it has snowed several times on my birthday.  Oh well, there are worse things than that.  Have a happy day!!!!

Cat has a tag along

My morning started out as it usually does.  Stumble to the kitchen to make coffee and breakfast for the man of the house.  Enjoy a cup of coffee and watch some morning news.  Then as the man of the house starts on his way to the shower, he really steps in it!  I mean shit!  The cat must have had some difficulty with the pinching of f stage of her morning routine, and had a tag along that seem to drop off a little at a time as she walked through the house.  The man of the house did not find the humor in this, at all.  I thought it was kinda funny, until I realized that the cat still had that tag along just taggging on, and I had to be the one to remove it!  Meow!! she did not appreciate that at all, either did I.  Needless to say my o.c.d. kicked into over drive and I went on this crazy cleaning spree.  I feel much calmer now, ahhh!

Sentimental about Mother's Day

Raising kids can be a real hard job but, releasing them into the wild or what I mean is watching them pack up their stuff and move across town or get on a plane and move across the country is for me the most difficult part of raising kids.  With this pain also comes pride, just knowing we must have done something right, that they have grown into strong, well rounded adults.  The thing is, we still have two more to go.  Remember, just because their out of your sight that worried feeling for them never goes away.  No matter how all five kids came into my life, I love them all!!!

Here Comes The Sun

It's a nice warm sunny day! I want to be a cat so I can lay in the sun by the front door. That's all I want.

Out of Wine

My dog is on steroids, my cat is over weight, my husband is a drummer, my kids have me wrapped around their finger and I'm out of wine.  HELP!!!

Childcare: How to get your children to go to bed.

Getting kids to go to bed at night is a common problem.  I have a great solution, for this situation.  When the kids are trying to get all comfy and cozy next to you on the couch, just put in a real scary, black and white horror film.  This usually freaks them out enough to go to bed on their own or the black and white on the t.v. put's them into a state of unconsciousness.  This is my next step this evening, goodnight.

I Made Up A Word Today

Befront:  (Bee-Front)
     1.  In front of or before.
Nitro don't walk befront of me.

After a bunch of organizing, I was moving things around into different rooms.  I decided to carry a small bookshelf down the stairs to the office.  It was very painful.  And heavy.  The dog likes to walk beside me down the steps.  So as usual I was trying to explain to him in English that he could not walk befront of me or I would fall down the steps.  He obviously didn't care because he kept going.  We did make it down the stairs and then he sits out of my way.  Then he sat to the side of me and watched me put the books on the bookshelf.  That was about all that we did.  That was the excitement of the day.
