Songbird or Daredevil?

A couple weeks back Songbird, Jar and I decided to do something different than the usual bike ride or walk.  I thought it would be fun for me to roller blade and for them to ride their scooters.  I figured we would be about even speed wise.  Before we left the kids said Mom you should wear a helmet.  But I do not have one so I said don't worry we're not going real far I'll be fine.  Everything was going fine and we were on our way back in the home stretch and I look over at Songbird as she is falling to the ground, almost in slow motion.  Knee scraped, big toe gashed and side of  foot was cut.  The sight of blood is what put her into a slight panic.  We still had to make it home and the more she walked the more she bled.  All over her flip flop that is what seem to bother her the most.  You know how girls are about their shoes!  Got home, cleaned her up and everything seem to heal up nicely.  Then this week Songbird has been really active, doing exercises on the exercise ball, running, and riding her bike.  Until this morning, she was out for her regular ride just up around the curve when out of no where the bike hit some loose gravel, the back tire whipped out from underneath of her and she went down.  She bravely got up walked home, pushing her bike beside her, NO TEARS, not even one.  Blood running down the front of her left leg, from a big scrape and a bloody left palm.  She's come a long way, she didn't even freak out during the clean up!!!  We're so proud!!  I do have one helpful hint for those big scrapes that may require a large bandage, but you may not have one on hand.  Panty liner, I just cut one in half and taped it down.  Works great, sounds weird, but works great!!!

Fury babies and cookies!

When we go to Menards shopping it is always an adventure.  In the past we have had one child crush another child's finger with a heavy piece of  metal from the big carts used to carry out larger items like lumber, plumbing etc..  We have also had a child get his hand stuck under the conveyer belt at one of the checkouts.  That one really wasn't his fault.  This time, I think had to be the most interesting.  We picked up some of those fudge striped cookies to use when making s'mores.  Really good they work as the chocolate and the graham cracker.  Anyway,  I'm going about my business bagging our purchases while my hubby is paying.  Songbird is helping me and Jar has only one thing on his mind.  He then blurts out, out of no where.  Where did you put the Kittens?????   He looked at me I looked at him, hubby say's what did he say?  The check girl was puzzled..  Then I said, do you mean the cookies?  We all started laughing, I couldn't stop.  I don't know where he came up with that, but his explanation was that his tongue got all twisted up.  I guess that' just a slip of the tongue:)

Fun 4th of July weekend.

We had a fun weekend in Wisconsin.  There were 17 adults, 5 kids, and 5 dogs.  It was some kinda crazy fun.  We had our own Olympic games with each family being their own country.  We made a family flag that represented our own families interests, like a motox bike, musical notes, the sunshine and a stick chick in a bikini.  Ha,ha, ya the stick chick was me sunbathing .  We competed in some games against the other families.  We came in last place when we were all done, but we got some cool prizes.  The kids had fun swimming and fishing.  Jar caught a pretty good size perch, you know they can be small but this was nice size.  He wouldn't kiss the fish, so I did it and then he released it.  Songbird fished down the shore a ways with Chris and had bites 2 different times that really bent the rod but then got away with the bait and all.  Zach and Chris were great with getting them all set up to fish the kids had a great time.  Jar also went on the tube with Zoey and Sam she's a friend of  Zach and Jacque.  Songbird still not ready for that, but the stick chick and her hubby went together on the tube.  Stick chick's brother was driving the boat and tried his hardest to dump us out, but he did not succeed.  Stick chick was screaming a lot and hubby just laughed at her, they all were laughing at her.  Later, out on the pontoon Deb, Jar, Zoey climbed down the ladder and swam around in 27 feet of water.  Songbird went down the ladder and climbed back up, she tried.  Zoey still wanted to jump off the pontoon so Deb, Zoey and stick chick jumped in. Oh, yes she did, stick chick jumped off into 27 feet of water, her children were in complete shock.  Fireworks were fun, the dogs were funny to watch.  Riley got so scared she ran over and jumped up on hubbies lap, Manerd just kept barking and trying to bite at them.  Nitro, had a good weekend laying on the pontoon, watching the fireworks these things didn't scare him, he was more scared of all the adults trying to pet him.  He loved the two littlest kids and they loved him because he was the smallest dog there.  So they kept calling him the puppy.  Last event was tie dye shirts and lots of candy for the kids to bring home.  It was a great time.  Looking forward to next year.
